COLLEGE BASKETBALL UA women No. 25 in coaches poll

The Arkansas women’s basketball team is ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll released Tuesday.

Arkansas is 14-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC following its 69-66 victory over Missouri on Sunday in Columbia, Mo. It is one of six SEC teams ranked in the USA Today poll, and three others are receiving votes.

The Razorbacks also received 29 votes Tuesday in The Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Arkansas faces Florida (12-3, 2-0 SEC) at 6 p.m. Thursday in Gainesville, Fla.

Williams Baptist splits doubleheader

Williams Baptist split a doubleheader with William Woods on Tuesday, winning the men’s game 91-74 and losing the women’s game 56-42.

Forward James McClain led the Williams Baptist men with 29 points. All but one player for Williams Baptist scored at least 10 points. Tony Jeffries and E.J. Rucker scored 14 points each, while Tevin Howard scored 13, Kam Ashabranner had 11 and Aaron Hamby added 10.

Tierra Burks led the Williams Baptist women with 15 points. Andraquay Quinnine scored a game-high 21 points for William Woods.
