— The Arkansas Lottery Commission on Monday identified Gary Howard of Fayetteville as the $1 million winner in the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s Million Dollar Raffle.

The winning ticket was purchased sometime after Aug. 31 at the Fast Trax convenience store on Bowen Boulevard in Goshen, according to a news release.

Store owners will receive a $10,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

Howard did not return a phone message left Monday afternoon. According to Monday’s news release, he planned to pay for his grandson’s college and put the rest of the money into savings.

According to Patricia Vick, lottery spokeswoman, the odds of winning the $1 million prize were one in 250,840.

The lottery commission on Friday announced another $650,000 in prizes — in $100,000, $10,000 and $500 increments. All winning numbers are listed online at myarkansaslottery.com.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery was created to provide scholarships and grants for Arkansas residents attending two- and four-year colleges and universities in the state.
