Warm Up With Six Hot Drinks

Friday, January 3, 2014

With snowy ice storms and gray days, winter in Northwest Arkansas can be a drag. Luckily, drink shops are open and serving local favorites to warm our frozen bones. Here are the top six warming drinks for 2014.

  1. The After Dinner Mint - This Common Grounds cafe mocha is combined with peppermint schnapps then topped with whipped cream and peppermints. Also available without alcohol. 442-3515, commongroundsar.com.

  2. Spanish Coffee - A mug half filled with kahlua, cognac and Tuaca is set on fire. While burning, baristas add a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg. The flames are snuffed out, and the mug is filled up with strong black coffee and topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with more nutmeg. Head out to Maxine’s Tap Room to try this hot concoction.

  3. Cinnamon Latte - Onyx Coffee Lab fresh roasted, single origin espresso brewed to customers’ tastes and poured into a mug of hot steamed milk. The latte is dusted with cinnamon and served with a dried cinnamon stick. Also available with soy milk.
