Don’t Worship ‘Enlightenment’

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

Iam always excited about the hope that a new year brings. I remember a woman named Eve who once had a hope for an exciting new time, as she heard the promise that she, too, could be as wise as God. When Satan oftered her the fruit, she did eat. You might say the rest is history.

However, we are still being told the same thing today. We are to believe we are wiser than God. After all, we have evolved and are enlightened, we are able to declare which verses in the Bible no longer apply to a new and informed generation. After all, if we are born with it, then it isn’t a sin; it is OK to follow our own desires.

We have in fact become so evolved we can redefine marriage. For some, it is a wonderful time, enjoying being our own god. Is it wonderful to remove the diffculty of trying to shape our lives and be obedient to an antiquated old book that no longer understands the desires we are born with.

Being self-disciplined is, after all, archaic.

Soon Adam and Eve found what their enlightenment brought them. It will not bring the peace and justification we look for either.

Millions today understand that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

He is everlasting. He does not evolve. His word is to be treated with respect and obeyed. It does not change to fit our desires. So it is this reason I am excited and hopeful for the new year!

STILL WAITING FOR 8TH STREET

Well, another year has come to a close and the elusive 8th Street project is still a mystery to property owners in the path.

I just read a huge article describing all the highway projects on Interstate 540 between Fayetteville and Bella Vista, but there was no mention of the 8th Street interchange. The last I read in the paper was that easements were to be completed by Dec. 27, 2013.

Well, that didn’t happen.

Why, you ask? Who knows, and don’t bother asking, either. Maybe we will find out in another 10 years.
