Bomb Threat Discovered At Bella Vista School

BELLA VISTA -- A bomb threat was written on the wall of a second-floor girls bathroom at Cooper Elementary School on Thursday, said Mary Ley, district spokeswoman.

The threat, written on the mortar between cinder blocks, said the bomb would go off Monday, Ley said.

Bella Vista police were investigating the threat Thursday. Police will be on campus today and Monday, Ley said. The school sent a letter home with students Thursday to inform parents of the situation.

Bentonville's bomb squad was called to help with the investigation, Ley said. A person who answered the phone at the Bella Vista Police Department refused comment.

Cooper Elementary has about 640 students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

This is the second time in a week Bentonville's School District has dealt with a bomb threat. The first was discovered at Bentonville High School on Feb. 20. That one also was found written on a bathroom wall.
