Bentonville Library Holds Safety Day Saturday

BENTONVILLE -- The public library will hold a Safety Day on Saturday.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Walmart Community Room at 405 S. Main St., according to a news release.

Parents can have children fingerprinted for free by the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Deputies also will provide information on identity theft, senior citizen safety and cyber safety. There will be games and activities for children that reinforce safety awareness.

The Swat van, a Sheriff's Office patrol car and motorcycle will be on display. The Sheriff's Office police dogs will have a demonstration at 1:30 p.m.

At 1 p.m., a teen life skills workshop on dating awareness and safety will be presented by Dawn Spragg of Teen Action Support Center and the Bentonville Police Department in the Rotary Conference Room. Spragg and the police will offer information and advice about how teens can spot signs of abuse as well as discuss healthy relationship skills.

Safety Storytimes will be presented at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Read Aloud Section of the Children's Department.
