Bomb threat discovered at Bentonville district's Cooper Elementary

A bomb threat was discovered written on the wall of a second-floor girls bathroom at Cooper Elementary on Thursday, district spokeswoman Mary Ley said.

The threat indicated the bomb would go off Monday. It was written on the mortar between cinder blocks, Ley said.

Bella Vista police were investigating the threat Thursday. Police will be on the campus Friday and Monday, Ley said. The school sent a letter home with students Thursday to advise parents of the situation.

The Bentonville bomb squad was called to assist Bella Vista with the investigation, Ley said. Bella Vista police declined comment.

This is the second time in a week the School District has dealt with a bomb threat. The first one was discovered at Bentonville High School on the afternoon of Feb. 20. That one also was found written on a bathroom wall.
