Ozark Regional Transit Asks For Public Input On New Rogers Route, Current Route

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Ozark Regional Transit staff members are holding public meetings to allow residents to have input on proposed changes to bus routes in Northwest Arkansas, transit officials said.

The next meeting is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rogers Public Library, 711 S. Dixieland Road. The topic will be proposed changes to Rogers route 44 and route 45, a proposed new route.

Ozark Regional is developing a new bus route for the Rogers New Technology High School, Rogers Aquatic Center, Rogers Public Library, Frisco Station Mall and NorthWest Arkansas Community College in Rogers, said Joel Gardner, transit executive director. The route also would include the Regional Sports Park.

Transit officials will display maps of route options and timetables, according to a news release. Officials will be available to answer questions at the Wednesday meeting, Gardner said.

The proposals are part of the transit’s effort to expand services in Rogers, Gardner said previously. Last year, Rogers officials approved additional transit funding to increase public transportation services.

Gardner said he hopes to hear from business leaders, students and the general public about proposed route changes and bus stops during planned meetings in Bentonville, Fayetteville and Springdale in February and March.

Route changes in Rogers are scheduled to begin in the first week of March, Gardner said.
