A Bella Vista man is fit to stand trial in connection with the stabbing death of a woman.

Leon Louis Lincoln, 41, is charged with murder in the first degree, a Class Y felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life imprisonment.

He was arrested Oct. 13, 2012, after Theresa Voshell was found stabbed in a home at 12 Thaxted Drive, according to court documents.

Court proceedings had been suspended pending the outcome of a mental evaluation at the Arkansas State Hospital. Lincoln appeared in court for a mental status hearing Tuesday afternoon. The evaluation found that Lincoln is mentally fit to stand trial.

Jay Saxton, chief public defender, said he would not contest the findings of the evaluation. Circuit Judge Robin Green then ruled that Lincoln is fit to stand trial.

Green scheduled Lincoln’s jury trial to begin Sept 8. A pre-trial hearing is set for Aug. 6.
