AUBURN 7, UCONN 3

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Freshman Keegan Thompson gave up 1 unearned run on 2 hits and struck out 9 in 5 2/3 innings of his first start to lead Auburn to a victory Sunday in the Snowbird Classic.

Thompson took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and the only run he allowed to the Huskies (0-3) was aided by a passed ball in the fifth.

Auburn (2-1) took command with a four-run third inning.

FLORIDA 8, MARYLAND 5

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida overcame a three-run deficit with a four-run second and a three-run fifth en route to a victory over Maryland on Sunday at McKethan Stadium. The game was shortened to eight innings.

Taylor Gushue broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single in the second inning and also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Eric Hanhold earned his first career victory by throwing three scoreless innings and Ryan Harris collected his first save.

MISSOURI 6, CHICAGO ST. 3

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Dylan Kelly and Shane Segova each went 3 for 4 and Kelly drove in two runs to lead Missouri to a victory at Cowboy Diamond.

Jake Ivory and Jake Ring each added two hits for the Tigers, who had 12 hits as a team.

Ryan Phillips earned his first victory for Missouri (2-1).

TEXAS A&M 1, NORTHEASTERN 0

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Logan Nottebrok’s lead-off home run in the bottom of the ninth was all Texas A&M needed to complete a season-opening sweep on Sunday.

Nottebrok’s home run was his only hit of the day, and the Aggies (3-0) were held to four hits as a team. Grayson Long pitched 7 shutout innings, giving up 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 7 for Texas A&M.

Chris Carmain pitched 7 shutout innings for Northeastern (0-3), before Brad Burcroff gave up the game winner.

ALABAMA 9, SAINT LOUIS 3

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Chance Vincent and Kyle Overstreet each had two-run hits in a seven-run seventh inning to break a tie game and give Alabama a victory.

The Crimson Tide (2-1) scored two runs in the second, then the Billikens (1-2) tied it in the third. Alabama erupted for seven runs in the seventh to clinch the victory.

Ben Moore added an RBI single, Mikey White drew a bases loaded walk and Austen Smith hit a sacrifice fly to complete the inning.

TENNESSEE 3-20, PURDUE 0-2

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Christin Stewart combined to go 5 for 8 with 6 RBI during Tennessee’s sweep of Purdue.

Stewart went 4 for 5 with a double and a triple, driving in five runs and scoring four runs in Tennessee’s Game 2 victory.

A.J. Simcox, David Houser and Taylor Smart each had three hits in the second game for Tennessee (2-0). Stewart went 1 for 3 with an RBI double in Game 1.

OLE MISS 8, STETSON 2

DELAND, Fla. - Will Allen hit a home run among his three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Rebels to a season-opening sweep.

Seven other Rebels (3-0) had two hits each and Preston Overbey had 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Sammy Smith earned the victory after throwing 5 shutout innings on 5 hits and striking out 2.

MISSISSIPPI STATE 7, WEST CAROLINA 2

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Brett Pirtle hit a three-run triple during Mississippi State’s five-run third inning and the Bulldogs cruised to a home victory.

Demarcus Henderson scored two runs for the Bulldogs (2-1), while Alex Detz, Wes Rea, Pirtle, Derrick Armston and Matthew Britton each scored a run.

Ben Bracewell earned the victory after 11/3 innings pitched.

VANDERBILT 6, LONG BEACH STATE 2

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Bryan Reynoldshad three hits and drove in three runs as Vanderbilt completed a sweep.

Reynolds had two doubles, while Zander Wiel, Vince Conde and Chris Harvey each doubled and scored for the Commodores (3-0).

Tyler Ferguson gave up 2 unearned runs on 1 hit and struck out 3 in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

LSU 6, GRAMBLING STATE 0

BATON ROUGE - Jared Poche’ struck out 3 and gave up 4 hits in 6 shutout innings to lead LSU to a victory over the Tigers.

Andrew Stevenson went 3 for 3 with an RBI for LSU (3-0), while Chris Sciambra, Alex Bregman and Chris Chinea also had RBI.

SOUTH CAROLINA 12, BUCKNELL 0

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina hit three home runs and totaled 17 hits to complete its season-opening sweep of Bucknell on Sunday.

Freshman Wil Crowe struck out 5 and walked 1 in 6 1/3 hitless innings, before giving way to the bullpen.

Max Schrock, Joey Pankake and Grayson Greiner each homered for South Carolina.

VIRGINIA MILITARY 10, KENTUCKY 9

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Cameron Walter hit a two-run single up the middle to give Virginia Military Institute a comeback victory over Kentucky on Sunday.

Walter’s single scored Brandon Angus and Will Malbon. Neither run was earned after two Kentucky errors in the ninth.

GA. SOUTHERN 18, GEORGIA 4

ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia Southern’s 11-run third inning powered it to a series-clinching victory over Georgia.

Aaron Mizell hit a home run in the inning and later added another as he went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI. Stryker Brown also homered for the Eagles (2-1). Conor Welton and Nelson Ward each had two hits for the Bulldogs (1-2).
