LR Fair uses runs to put away Bryant

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Little Rock Fair put together a 14-0 run spanning the first two quarters and never looked back in a 56-48 victory over Bryant on Tuesday night in Little Rock.

Fair scored the first quarter’s final five points to build some breathing room before stretching the lead, thanks in part to Charles McFarland’s three-pointer that gave the War Eagles a 16-7 lead. The War Eagles scored four more points before Bryant’s Kevin Hunt hit an inside basket to stop the run.

After Fair (14-7, 6-3 7A/6A-South) took a 21-12 lead into the locker room at halftime, it went on another run. This time it was an 11-2 outburst over the first 5:29 of the third quarter. C.J. Rainey, who lead all scorers with 21 points, hit two free throws to score Bryant’s first points of the second half.

The Hornets (10-10, 6-3) got within four points twice in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.
