Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

CVS Caremark Corp., the drugstore chain, a profit of $1.27 billion, or $1.05 a share, up from $1.13 billion, or 90 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose nearly 5 percent to $32.83 billion. Shares rose $1.83 to close Tuesday at $68.77.

Entergy Corp., the electric utility, a profit of $146.9 million, or 82 cents a share, down from $296.3 million, or $1.66 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 10 percent to $2.69 billion. Shares fell 19 cents to $62.58.

Reynolds American Inc .,the nation’s second-biggest tobacco company, a profit of $292 million, or 54 cents a share, up from $139 million, or 25 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell about 2 percent to $2.04 billion. Shares fell 74 cents, or 1.5 percent, to close at $48.07.

Sprint Corp., the third-largest U.S. wireless carrier, a loss of $1.04 billion, or 26 cents a share, from a loss of $1.32 billion, or 44 cents per share, a year ago. Revenue rose 2 percent to $9.14 billion. Shares rose 21 cents to close at $7.90.
