— Shiloh Christian turned to one of its own to take over the Lady Saints’ highly successful volleyball program.

Nathan Bodenstein, a Shiloh Christian alum and former assistant coach, was named Monday to replace former coach Shyrah Schisler. Schisler was recently hired at Springdale Har-Ber after guiding the program to back-to-back 5A-West Conference titles.

Bodenstein served as an assistant coach at Shiloh Christian for four seasons and spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Class 7A power Bentonville, a program that won two state titles while he was there.

Katy Caine was also named an assistant coach at Shiloh Christian. Caine has a championship background as both a player and a coach in Alabama. She played on two state championship teams, earning MVP honors as a prep standout in Birmingham. She played collegiately at West Alabama and has also won a state title as a coach.

“We are excited about the future of our volleyball program,” Shiloh Christian athletic director Josh Floyd said. “We believe these hires will help us continue our quest for our first state championship.”

The Lady Saints will compete in the 4A-1 Conference next season after two seasons in Class 5A.
