— Proceedings were suspended Monday in the criminal case of a Rogers woman accused of raping a boy.

Lisa Dawn Norman, 46, is charged with rape, a Class Y felony. She previously pleaded not guilty to the charge. Norman was released from the Benton County Jail after posting a $75,000 bond.

Sergio Barron, deputy public defender, requested a mental evaluation for Norman at Monday’s court appearance. Circuit Judge Brad Karren granted the request and suspended proceedings pending the outcome of the evaluation at Ozark Guidance in Springdale. A mental status hearing is set for July 17.

The father of a 15-year-old boy reported to police Jan. 17, 2013, that his son was inappropriately touched when the teen was younger, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The teen was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County.

The boy said the abuse began when he was 7. Court documents claim the abuse occurred between January 2005 and January 2007. Norman initially denied the allegation, but later told detectives she remembered an incident where she woke up in bed with the boy and was touching him inappropriately.

She told police the incident happened when the boy was in the second or third grade, according to court documents.
