Proceedings suspended against woman accused of rape

Proceedings were suspended Monday in the criminal case of a Rogers woman accused of raping a boy.

Lisa Dawn Norman, 46, is charged with rape, a Class Y felony. She previously pleaded not guilty to the charge. Norman was released from the Benton County Jail after posting a $75,000 bond.

Sergio Barron, deputy public defender, requested a mental evaluation for Norman at Monday’s court appearance. Circuit Judge Brad Karren granted the request and suspended proceedings pending the outcome of the evaluation at Ozark Guidance in Springdale. A mental status hearing is set for July 17.

The father of a 15-year-old boy reported to police Jan. 17, 2013, that his son was inappropriately touched when the teen was younger, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
