No foul play tied to two fire deaths

Investigators said this week that foul play is not suspected in the Jan. 27 deaths of two Berryville residents.

Carroll County Sheriff Robert Grudek said Jackie Lee Aday, 31, and Daniel Cody Middleton, believed to be about 26, died of smoke inhalation after the housethey were renting caught fire and burned. Area firefighters were sent to the property at U.S. 62 and Arkansas 143 about 11:30 p.m. that day.

Aday and Middleton’s bodies were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Little Rock for identification Jan. 28.

Arkansas State Policearson investigators found no evidence of accelerants, such as gasoline or other flammable liquids, and were not able to determine a cause for the fire, Grudek said.

Grudek said he was not sure about the relationship between Aday and Middleton but that both were longtime Berryville residents.
