Dolphins of Destiny? Purposeful Porpoises? No matter which monikers you hang on them, Buzz and Buzz-Buzz received a royal sendoff Monday at the Little Rock Air Force Base as they headed for their California home after undergoing four months of intensive tests at the Animal Behavior Enterprises farm at Hot Springs. Press and TV cameras ground away as the two hefty “recruits” were hoisted aboard a Navy C121 for their 1,800-mile flight to the West Coast. Asked if the weather might be the “wrath of God” that opponents of Sunday racing had warned about, Jackson said, “Well, the only problem with that is that it’s doing the same thing (in terms of weather) in Carlisle and Newport. But if it stays this way into April, we may have to rethink this thing.”

A bill that would dissolve the Pulaski County Special School District won legislative committee approval Tuesday over objections of the district superintendent, who called the bill “retaliation and reprisal” for the district’s role in a recent bus-driver strike. House Bill 1175 by Rep. Linda Chesterfield, D-Little Rock, would leave Pulaski County with two school districts and use the Arkansas River as the dividing line.
