BASEBALL

Bentonville Youth Baseball registration for the spring 2014 season is under way. The league is open to any player living in Bentonville School District who is at least age 4 on April 30, 2014, but not older than 16 on April 30, 2014 Registration closes mid-February for players 8 and older. McDonald County (Mo.) High School is hosting a six-week baseball camp that started Jan. 25. McDonald County baseball coach Nick Martin will direct the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. BASKETBALL

In-Season Basketball Skills Tune-Up offered by Rainmaker Basketball coach Isaac Edwards is offered at the Rogers Activity Center. The classes are for players in grades 2-12, and the cost is $10 per session. A RAC membership is required. Classes will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. each Sunday through Feb. 23.

Northwest Arkansas team looking for players in grades 1-4 for boys and girls. Focus will be on player development and skill building. We will play games in NWA, the River Valley, Oklahoma and Missouri. Also players in grades 8-12 boys and girls whose goal is to play college basketball. FOOTBALL

Registration for spring youth tackle football for players in grades K-7 will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays starting Feb. 15 through March 11 at Academy Sports and Outdoors, 3855 S. 26th in Rogers and 3864 N. GOLF

The Bella Vista Women’s Five-Hole Golf Association is now accepting members for the 2014 season. Kickoff brunch is March 31 at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista. Registration is at 10 a.m. and brunch at 10:30 a.m. The cost of brunch is $10, and annual dues are $12. Applications are available at [email protected]. All POA members are welcome. No handicaps.

SOCCER

The Springdale Youth Center is now taking registration for spring soccer for boys and girls ages 3 through high school. Fees vary from $15 to $25 based on age. SOFTBALL

Fayetteville Fastpitch league is taking sign-ups for spring 2014 for girls age 4-14. This will be a competitive league under USSSA rules and sanctions stressing fundamentals of the game. Registration is currently being taken for girls youth fastpitch softball programs at the Rogers Activity Center and online at www.rogersarkansas.com/recreation. Programs offered to girls age 5-18. The Rogers Activity Center has teamed up with Jorja Blair to offer preseason skills academies for ages 7-14. Each academy is designed to help players in the Rogers Activity Center Fastpitch Softball League with individual skills. Academies start Feb. 3 and meet once a week for six weeks. Cost for registration is $50 per player. Early registration is recommended. There are limited openings in each session. Open to Rogers Activity Center Fastpitch Softball League participants only. Registration will be taken through March 7 for the Rogers Activities Association Fastpitch League. Teams will be formed based on the school players attend. Practices will start in April and games will start in May. Cost for registration is $40 for ages 5-6 and $50 for ages 7-18. Current RAC membership is required to participate. TENNIS

The Rogers Activity Center will offer youth winter tennis classes through the Ozark Tennis Academy from through Feb. 28. No experience is necessary. These fun classes will introduce all of the basic tennis strokes using QuickStart junior rackets, lower nets, foam tennis balls, low compression balls, and shorter courts. As players learn to keep the ball in play, they will also be introduced to the basics of scoring and match play. Sessions are: Ages 6-10 on Wednesday and Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. The fee is $60 or $120 for both sessions, and a RAC membership is required. Junior tennis racket included for new registrants if needed. Limited supply available. RAC membership required.
