Holiday party celebrates commitment to health

More than 100 guests visited the home of Suzy and Chuck Fehlig in Cave Springs on Dec. 13 for a holiday party for Circle of Red and Men Go Red members.

The evening was sponsored by the Fehligs, ATLAS Technology Group, Beam Suntory and Keurig. Circle of Red is a society of women who have the passion, the motivation and inspiration to drive and influence change in the community regarding heart health of women, according to ahaevents.org. Men Go Red is "a powerful, passionate group of men dedicated to making an impact in our community's fight against heart disease, the No. 1 killer."

"Members of Men Go Red raise awareness and commit a gift for lifesaving programs, research that fuels the development of medications, surgical innovations, treatments and recommendations for preventing heart disease," according to the website.

Chuck Fehlig and Carmen Bauza are the event chairmen for Go Red for Women, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 10 at John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers, said Christina Hinds, senior social events director at the American Heart Association, Northwest Arkansas chapter. The event will include free health screenings, a beauty and fashion area, nutritional area, "Purse-onality" auction, Haute to Dress production by Masons, luncheon program, passion story and guest speaker, according to ahaevents.org. Tickets will go on sale in January.

More American Heart Association events in Northwest Arkansas include Paint the Town Red on Jan. 24, the Northwest Arkansas Heart Walk on April 11 and the Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball on May 9.
