Rogers family of five killed in wreck

A Rogers family of five died in a car crash in Indiana Friday morning, according to Indiana State Police Department.

Dennis Nguyen, 43; his wife, Thu-Ha Thi Cao, 44;and three children died after the 2001 Jaguar car they were in collided with a 2011 Peterbilt semi on US 31 around 8:45 a.m. Friday, according to a news release.

Officials did not release the names or ages of the children as of mid-day Saturday as their identifications have not been confirmed.

“We’re still working with the family,” Paul Daugherty, master trooper, said in an email Saturday.

The Jaguar was heading south bound when the driver lost control, over corrected, crossed the grass median and entered the north-bound lane. William Stump, 41, of Carmel, Ind. was driving the semi truck north bound when it hit the Jaguar on the driver’s side. The car was facing west when impact was made, the release states.

Stump was taken to Indiana University Health Hospital, where he was treated and released.

All five passengers of the Jaguar had to be extricated. The Tipton County coroner pronounced the father, mother, and two children dead at the scene, according to the release. An adolescent female, who sat in the backseat on the passenger’s side, was flown to Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, where she died of injuries.

All five passengers were believed to be wearing seat belts, the release states.
