WHAT: Friends Fun Wine

STATS: Vary by flavor. Wines have 75 or 94 calories per serving; each 8.4-ounce can contains two servings. Visit friendsfunwine.com.

THE SKINNY: We know wines in bottles. And we intimately know wines in boxes.

But wine in cans? Friends Fun Wine, which has a white-on-black logo reminiscent of Friends, the 1990s TV sitcom, is "produced in the south of France from premium French grapes," but elects to package its various moscatos, sangrias and new coffee wines in cans.

Why not? We'll let the wine experts debate that. But Friends defends itself: "Friends Fun Wine is delicious, affordable, convenient, portable, quick chilling, and 100 percent recyclable." Not to mention that at 150 to 188 calories per can, it's less caloric than other canned party potables (compare to 220 for a Bud Light Lime-A-Rita) marketed toward women.

The fruity strawberry peach, rose and white moscatos and red and white sangrias are surprisingly sippable. But my favorite is the silky smooth Cabernet Coffee Espresso, and I don't even like coffee. That said, I've still been too nervous to sample the Chardonnay Coffee Cappuccino.
