ROGERS -- Rogers High senior Shannon Orlopp signed to play volleyball at Centenary College on Tuesday afternoon. Centenary is a Division III school in Shreveport, La.

Orlopp was a three-year starter for the Lady Mounties and she was named to the Class 7A All-Tournament Team earlier this year. Orlopp finished the season with 178 kills and she had 12 kills in the Lady Mounties victory over Cabot in the state tournament. She also had 17 aces on the year.

Orlopp visited Centenary before her senior year and went through an open workout with team members and other prospective recruits. Orlopp said she plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine.

"Centenary seemed to fit the profile I was looking for both academically and for volleyball, so I decided to go down to visit," Orlopp said. "When I went, I was the only junior. It was kind of scary, but their assistant coach had already come and see me play at tournament. When I was coming back, they e-mailed me and said they would love to have me on the team."

Lady Mounties coach Jeana Breedlove said she would not be surprised to see Orlopp play as a freshman at Centenary.

"Shannon has really great footwork," Breedlove said. "I am so excited for her because she loves the game. I think this is really going to be a good fit for her. I think she will be able to step in and earn a position."
