Arkansas women's basketball Coach Jimmy Dykes said he knew coming into Sunday's game with Tulsa that the Razorbacks were facing a good three-point shooting team, and that turned out to be an accurate assessment.

Tulsa ended up making 8 of 19 three-point attempts, but Arkansas stopped just about everything else Tulsa tried to do, and the Razorbacks came away with a 64-53 victory in front of 1,050 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricane shot 27.9 percent for the game, including 9 of 42 on shots from inside the three-point line, and Arkansas outrebounded Tulsa 47-32 to win for the third time in three true road games.

The victory was the 700th for UA women's program.

"I was hoping to hold them to 6 or 7 and they end up making 8," Dykes said of Tulsa's three-point shooting, "but you know what: I'll watch the film and I think two or three of them, we were right there in their face and contested and they knocked it in. When you look at it though, we held Tulsa to nine two-point baskets in this game. ... I think that's because we stayed in a stance, we tried to stay in gaps, we try not to give you easy stuff."

Dykes said he was particularly pleased with the victory because it came away from Fayetteville.

"I know the goals are 10 feet high and everything is the same of the floor, but still we pick up another win away from Bud Walton Arena which is huge, because five out of our eight wins are away from Bud Walton Arena and that's a good start to the season."

Senior forward Jhasmin Bowen scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Arkansas (8-2).

Eight of Bowen's rebounds came on the offensive end, leading the Razorbacks to an 18-0 edge in second-chance points over Tulsa (4-5).

It was the second time Bowen has exceeded 10 points and 10 rebounds in the same game this season. She has accomplished that feat six times in her career.

Arkansas outrebounded Tulsa, 47-32.

Sophomore Kelsey Brooks also had 17 points for Arkansas, and she added seven rebounds. Sophomore Jessica Jackson scored 15 points, including a three-pointer with 1:19 left to secure the victory. Jackson had eight rebounds and tied a career-high with five blocks.

Arkansas shot 45.8 percent from the field and held Tulsa to 27.9 percent overall, but Tulsa made 8 of 19 three-pointers while making 9 of 42 on two-point attempts.

The Razorbacks jumped out to a 10-5 lead as Jackson and Brooks combined for eight points. Arkansas led 21-15 with 10:48 to play in the first half when it held Tulsa scoreless for 9:22 to push its lead to 12, eventually settling for a 30-21 halftime lead.

Arkansas led by 15 with 15:19 to play, and the Golden Hurricane cut it to eight with 6:18 remaining. But that was as close as Tulsa would get.

The Razorbacks will be back in action Dec. 21 in Little Rock, Ark., to play Oklahoma as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
