— Arkansas' assistant coaching staff has the 19th-highest cumulative salary in college football, according to a database updated this week by USA Today.

The Razorbacks' assistant coaches make a combined salary of just less than $3.22 million each year. With salaries of $500,000 or more per year, offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, offensive line coach Sam Pittman and defensive coordinator Robb Smith rank among 66 highest-paid assistant coaches in the nation.

Arkansas' cumulative total ranks ninth among SEC teams. LSU and Alabama have the two highest salary pools, followed by Auburn at No. 4.

LSU's combined staff salary is just less than $5.5 million per year. Alabama is the only other program in college football with a combined salary pool of greater than $5 million.

Other league schools to rank ahead of the Razorbacks are Texas A&M, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema indicated earlier this month that some coaches could receive pay raises following the season.

Texas, which Arkansas will play in a bowl game later this month, ranks sixth nationally with an assistant coaching salary pool of greater than $3.84 million.
