Where I live: I live in a patio home in Maumelle with my tuxedo cat, Kalila, who was rescued from the Maumelle Animal Shelter four years ago. She's about 8 and very set in her ways.

Occupation: Artist and art teacher, former faculty member at the Arkansas Arts Center. I now teach drawing and painting at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center.

My favorite space is: My east-facing sunroom.

Why? It's where I spend most of my time. It's a large room with great light and windows on three sides. I can open the windows in nice weather and let the breezes flow. I love the airiness of the room. I can watch activity outside my windows and enjoy nature. And Kalila likes to lie on the floor where the sun hits it. In this space, I have marvelous natural light for my painting. And there's my piano -- I play for The Lakes Nursing Home every Monday at noon. I have my computer on my desk, where I read emails and play games, and I write occasionally for Maumelle Magazine. These are all my favorite things to do in my favorite room.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Buy a large taboret (a wood cabinet on casters with drawers, work space, and compartments) so that I can organize my pastels and other art supplies easily.
