Where I live: I live with my husband and our two dogs in a neighborhood on the north side of Wilson Park in a modest house that was built in the 1950s. This February will be our first anniversary in the new house. I was born and raised in Fayetteville and have moved away many times, but I always find myself moving back. We love living near the park. We take walks down there with our dogs almost every day. We love the trees around our house. It's bookended by an enormous magnolia on one end and a white pine on the other.

Occupation: Executive director of the Ozark Literacy Council. We provide basic literacy and language services for adults. We accept anyone who comes through our door. This year we're celebrating our 50th anniversary as the oldest and largest literacy council in Arkansas.

My favorite space: My dining room.

Why? I love that spot because I love sharing meals with my husband and our friends and family and I love to eat. I like to use the space because it has this big table and you can really spread things out. You can see out into the backyard and the street side of the house. It's where I feel like I can think really clearly.

If I could do one thing to improve this space I would: Take out the windows and put in some French doors.
