The Lady War Eagles took control with a 13-2 second-half run, even though senior guard Emilie Jobst spent most of the third quarter on the bench with four fouls.

Beebe coach Greg Richey acknowledged the third quarter was key, especially when Jobst went to the bench with the Lady Badgers (0-3) leading 23-21 with more than six minutes left.

Junior Hailey Tiles and senior Sara Giesen keyed a 9-1 spurt to grab a 30-24 lead after three quarters.

"We went through a big drought and we couldn't get ourselves to the foul line," Richey said. "That's a testament to them. I thought they executed at times when they needed to. That's what it takes in a close game."

Jobst keyed a 10-0 run with a 3-pointer, a layup off a turnover and a free throw to put the Lady War Eagles in control with a 43-29 lead with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Heritage coach Kevin Ramey said his team's rebounding the second half was the difference keyed by the play of Tiles, Raquel Moore and Dehring Scudder.

"I thought we won the game on the glass in the second half," Ramey said. "Hailey, Dehring and Raquel all did a great job on the boards in the second half. That was big because I thought they hurt us in the first half with second chances.

"Hailey was huge tonight and Sara was pretty steady for us."

Jobst finished with a team-high 14 points, despite sitting out more than six minutes of the third quarter with four fouls. Tiles was also in double figures with 13, while Giesen added 11.

Ramey was pleased with his team's defense in the first half, which allowed the Lady War Eagles to keep the game close despite going more than 10 minutes without a field goal. Heritge trailed only 19-16 at halftime.

"The first half we didn't play very well and they had a lot to do with that," Ramey said. "We were pretty fortunate because we didn't shoot free throws very well and missed some things around the basket. It could have been away from us.

"I thought we continued to defend in the first half and were able to get enough stops to stay in the game.

Junior Taylor McGraw finished with a game-high 19 points for Beebe, including four 3-pointers. McGraw's 3-pointer with 4 minutes, 37 seconds left in the fourth quarter ended a more than eight-minute stretch without a field goal for Beebe and pulled the Lady Badgers within 33-29.

But Jobst and the Lady War Eagles responded with a 10-0 surge to regain control.
