Tyrone Lamont Hayes, 26, was taken into custody shortly after 11 a.m. at National Park Medical Center after his release and charged with aggravated robbery and committing a terroristic act, two counts of first-degree battery and one count of possession of a firearm by certain persons.

Hayes, on parole from multiple felony convictions, is set to appear Sept. 9 in Garland County District Court.

According to an affidavit, on Aug. 20 shortly after 11:30 a.m., Hot Springs police responded to the intersection of Locust and Coy streets and found two seriously wounded victims in two locations in a two-block area.

One victim, 27, was found in the parking lot of the Hot Springs Housing Authority with a gunshot wound in the left side of his head.

The second victim, 19, was found lying on the ground near the corner of Locust and Spring streets, a block from Coy Street, with a gunshot wound in his left leg where a bullet had struck his femoral artery, resulting in severe blood loss.

A few minutes after finding the two victims, police located another gunshot victim, later identified as Hayes, at the Economy Inn, 805 E. Grand Ave., about two blocks from the scene of the shooting.

Hayes reportedly had been shot once in the stomach, and officers noted he matched the description of one of the two men seen running from the scene. Hayes was taken to a hospital.

The next day, according to the affidavit, detective Scott Lampinen interviewed the victims at the hospital, and the first victim told him Hayes had shot them during a robbery.

The victim said Hayes had called him earlier that morning wanting to purchase some marijuana, and they had agreed to meet at Locust and Coy streets to make the deal.

The first victim picked up the second victim, and they both drove to the intersection. They were sitting in the car when Hayes walked up, and they began making the transaction.

Hayes purportedly pulled out a black, semi-automatic handgun, put it to the first victim's face and stated, "Give me everything." The suspect began going through the victim's pockets and then suddenly shot him in the head, the victim said.

The second victim, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, then pulled out a handgun and shot Hayes in the stomach, who in turn shot the second victim in the leg.
