Dozens of healers convene for UAMS alumni checkup

Sunday, August 31, 2014

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine opened its 2014 Alumni Weekend at the Arkansas Arts Center, and what filled the Alice Pratt Brown atrium is every mother's dream -- a horde of graduated doctors.

Eighty-four physicians and nurses, who came from across the country, were expected to attend the event. Attendees were greeted by an outlay of hors d'oeuvres from Simply the Best catering, and light piano music was played by fellow physician Dr. Alan Storeygard.

This year's alumni reunion was for graduating classes in years ending in 4 and 9. Dr. Benjamin Taylor from the class of 1954 was the oldest attendee. He came from California for the event.

Guests mingled for a while after Dean Richard Smith gave his welcoming speech, then circulated back to the Little Rock Marriott hotel, where most were staying for the weekend.
