Motorcyclist dies in shooting, crash

BLYTHEVILLE -- A Mississippi County man involved in a motorcycle accident on a Blytheville street Thursday evening had been shot, Blytheville police said Friday.

Cpt. Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said police responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of Ninth Street and Chickasawba Avenue at 9:45 p.m. Thursday. They found Justin Harrison, 31, of Blytheville unresponsive under his motorcycle.

Adams said paramedics transported Harrison to the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives said residents of Chickasawba Avenue reported hearing gunshots Thursday night, and Harrison was found with gunshot wounds.

Authorities will send Harrison's body to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy, Adams said.

Adams urged anyone with information about the shooting to call the Blytheville Police Department at (870) 762-0400 or the COPS hotline at (870) 762-2677.
