Band brings folk rock sound to Crystal Bridges

"It's great to just make music together as friends and have fun," Basement Brew band member Lee Zodrow says.

Basement Brew will perform after the Coverlets Sept. 5 at the Skyspace Amphitheater at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville. Zodrow, lead singer and keyboardist, and lead guitarist Patrick George founded the folk rock band about seven years ago. Other members include Gideon Haden on rhythm guitar and vocals, Will Eubanks on bass and vocals and Wes Packard on drums.

Zodrow says the band, which is based in Fayetteville, draws from a variety of influences, including blues, rock 'n' roll and reggae. The group released its first EP in 2012 and plan to release an LP, "Lost in Ramble," in October, he says.

"I feel like we've progressed in our sound a lot and have captured more accurately our sound on this new record," he adds.

The album will feature 11 original tracks. The majority were written by Zodrow, along with a few by George and Haden.

"We just try to create stuff that we like to listen to and make it as quality as we possibly can," he says.

For the Sept. 5 show, Basement Brew will perform songs from both releases, along with a few covers to get the crowd going. Zodrow says they often cover Bob Dylan songs and Motown tunes, which they revamp to make their own.
