Rogers mayor addresses incidents involving city attorney

ROGERS -- Mayor Greg Hines held a press conference Friday morning to address complaints filed against Ben Lipscomb, city attorney, including allegations that Lipscomb shared prescription medication with another city employee.

Hines called the news conference to allow media to ask questions about the alleged incidents involving the city attorney. Lipscomb was investigated for sharing his prescription of anti-anxiety medication Xanax with another department head two years ago, according to police documents.

There was no money or anything of value exchanged, but was a case of one friend helping another, according to a police report. The case was referred to Van Stone, Benton County prosecuting attorney, and no charges were filed against Lipscomb, Hines said.

A special prosecutor was appointed earlier this month to look into another complaint involving Lipscomb. That case is still under investigation and the case file is sealed.
