FAYETTEVILLE -- A Lincoln woman died in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday night, and the driver faces a felony negligent homicide charge.

Danielle Bishop, 34, was a passenger in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup driven by Kevin Fair Cain, 40, of Lincoln.

The accident happened about 10:45 p.m. just north of the Washington and Crawford county line on Arkansas 59.

Cain was northbound when he veered off the road into the ditch on the east side, overcorrected and traveled back across the road and hit an embankment on the west side of the highway head-on, according to a State Police report.

The vehicle then caught fire.

Bishop was unable to get out of the vehicle and was badly burned in the fire. Attempts to resuscitate her at the scene were unsuccessful, according to the report.

Cain was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center and then to jail.

A Washington County Sheriff's Office report said Cain was slurring his speech and could hardly stand. A breath test indicated Cain hadn't been drinking alcohol. He told deputies he took hydrocodone and Klonopin before the crash, according to the report.

Cain was arrested by a state police trooper and booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 8:22 a.m. Thursday on charges of negligent homicide, driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license and reckless driving. He was released later in the morning.
