A rehabbing Yadier Molina helped beat the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals' All-Star catcher began a rehab assignment with the Springfield Cardinals on Wednesday and went 2 for 3, including an RBI double in the fourth inning, in a 4-3 victory at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

Molina, who has been on the disabled list since July 10 with a thumb injury, singled off Travs starter Kramer Sneed in the first, struck out in the third, then came to the plate in the fourth with Breyvic Valera on second base. Valera had just hit a two-run double to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead, and Molina added to it with his double down the right-field line to make it 3-1.

The Cardinals added a run in the sixth when Greg Garcia walked and scored on Curt Smith's sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.

The Travs, who clinched the Texas League North Division second-half title with a victory Tuesday, pulled to within a run in the eighth but couldn't complete the comeback.

Adam Melker was hit bit a pitch to lead off the eighth, then scored on Mike Bianucci's double. Bianucci moved to third on Greg Garcia's throwing error and scored on Matt Long's sacrifice fly. But Michael Snyder grounded out to end the inning, and Joey Donofrio pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save.
