The accident occurred at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday just north of the Washington and Crawford county line on Arkansas Highway 59.

Police reported Cain was driving northbound when he veered off the road into the ditch on the east side, over-corrected and traveled back across the road and struck an embankment on the west side of the highway head-on. The vehicle then caught fire

Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cain was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center. Cain was booked into the Washington County Jail at 8:22 a.m. Thursday in connection with negligent homicide, driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license and reckless driving.

Police said the fire made it impossible to determine if seat belts were in use.
