10:15 P.M. UPDATE

Former professional boxing champion Jermain Taylor has been arrested on charges of first-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault after a shooting at his Pulaski County home that injured his cousin.

Authorities say Taylor has been cooperative as they investigate the shooting that left the victim in serious condition at last check.

Pulaski County sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said the cousin was unarmed when he came to Taylor's home outside Maumelle and an altercation developed.

The shooting happened about 6 p.m. and the cousin, whose name has not been released, was found at a nearby Dollar General, where he and another man reportedly drove after the shots were fired. It wasn't immediately known what started the altercation.

Police cars, including one that Taylor was in, left his property about 9:30 p.m. Taylor was booked into the Pulaski County jail Tuesday night, where he was set to be held without bail pending a first court appearance Wednesday.

Minden said the shooting was reported about 6 p.m. as an "intruder on property call." Taylor's home is at 1 Vintage Drive near Maumelle.

Minden said the person who was shot was found at a nearby Dollar General off Arkansas 365. The extent of his injuries was unclear, Minden said, adding that it also wasn't known how he got from the house to the store.

Taylor was still at the house as police investigated. He was been arrested in the shooting on charges of first-degree battery and aggravated assault after a shooting at his Pulaski County home that injured his cousin.

A number of police units remained on the scene as night fell, including a large crime scene van. Deputies stood post at a gate at the entrance to the property that displays in large letters Taylor's nickname, "Bad Intentions."

At one point, a woman who identified herself as an attorney was allowed to walk up to the large house, which isn't visible from the police checkpoint at the gate. She declined to comment on the case.

Maumelle Police Department Capt. Jim Hansard said police assisted with the call, but declined further comment.
