ROGERS -- Aldermen on Tuesday will consider purchasing software for the planning, code enforcement and inspections department that will benefit city employees and the general public, officials said.

The $359,896 software program from City View of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, will allow builders, contractors and residents to apply for permits online, and check the status of an inspection, said Dick Lester, city network administrator.

"It will completely automate those departments. City employees will be able to use electronic tables with built-in Wi-Fi in the field to fill out forms, conduct inspections and a variety of other jobs. The information automatically goes online at the appropriate department where it will be available to the public as soon as the employee saves the file," Lester said.

The software is expensive, but not as expensive than other systems that perform a similar task, officials said.

The Rogers City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at City Hall, 301 W. Chestnut St. Enter on the northeast side of the building.

Also on the agenda:

• The creation of a Public Art Commission to govern the display of public art on city-owned property.

• An $18,530 contract with New World Systems Corp. for the purchase of additional software for the Rogers Police Department.

• A memorandum of understanding with the cities of Fayetteville and Bentonville concerning responsibilities related to a data sharing system.

• Allowing the city to accept a $15,393 grant from the Arkansas State Department of Health, Trauma Systems to purchase trauma-related medical supplies.

• Appropriating $20,373 to the Edward Byrne Grant expense account for purchase of a radar record/traffic counter from Jamar Radar, uniforms, equipment for light kits for patrol rifles and tourniquet holders for duty belts.

• A $2,896,317 contact with DECCO for the Monte Ne Road improvement project from New Hope Road to Gum Street.

• A $91,748 contract with Crowder Construction to move a sewer line running under the soccer fields at Veterans Park.

• A $256,810 contract with J&L Concrete for storm and sewer work associated with the Veterans Park soccer fields and other locations in the city.

• A $73,875 contract with J&L Concrete for additional work at the Veterans Park soccer fields.

• Accepting the final plat of Pinnacle Hills Office Park.
