Huckabee visits Arkansas amid GOP election push

Posted: August 25, 2014 at 10:39 a.m.

ROGERS — Amid a Republican push for its candidates as the 2014 election cycle enters its home stretch, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is returning to the state.

Huckabee is scheduled for appearances late Monday afternoon in Rogers and Little Rock. His visit comes after the GOP brought national leaders last week and ahead of campaign stops by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie this week.

Democrats say the use of national GOP figures indicate that Republicans are more interested in Washington politics than Arkansas politics.

Last week's GOP visitors included 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. They said the way to turn the country at the national level is to win elections over Democratic politicians at the local level.
