You had to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, but don't walk away. Luckily, there wasn't any of that at the Handful of Hearts Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament, a benefit held Aug. 16 at the Arkansas Arts Center and hosted by the Make-A-Wish Mid-South CREW (Connecting, Raising Funds, Emerging Leadership and Wish Granting), a young professionals group.

A barbecue buffet and libations were served at the event, at which players paid $75 to compete for prizes awarded throughout the evening as well as prizes for the top 10 players. Items included a 55-inch flat-screen RCA television, pieces of art and gift baskets.

"We are at $15,500 plus" so far in proceeds, said Amy Perry, development coordinator for Make-A-Wish Mid-South. All proceeds will be used for the organization's mission to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
