FAYETTEVILLE -- A man arrested in connection with capital murder was booked into the Washington County Detention Center late Friday night, and faces eight additional felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.

Sam Hill, 26, of 1693 S. Morningside Drive in Fayetteville also faces four counts of aggravated assault, carrying a handgun, first-degree false imprisonment, first-degree interference with emergency communications, second-degree endangerment of the welfare of a minor and misdemeanor third-degree battery, according to an arrest report.

Hill was arrested in connection with capital murder after shooting his father, Allen Hill, 61, of 12397 S. Whitehouse Road outside of Elkins about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"My son just came and shot my husband," said Roberta Hill during a 911 call, as she was screaming and crying.

The additional charges stem from an altercation between he and his wife, Sidney, at their home about an hour before the shooting at his parents' home, according to the report.

Hill strangled, pushed and kicked his wife, according to the report.

Police said he also held a knife to her throat, dragged her around their home by her hair and hit her head against the tile floor and refrigerator. He also broke her cellphone to prevent her from calling for help and tried to keep her from leaving the home with her 5-year-old daughter.

Sidney Hill had a cut on the bottom of her nose, bruises on her neck, face, shoulder, back, foot and hands, according to the police report.

Police said Sidney Hill confronted Sam Hill about his drinking habit and perhaps that's what fueled his rage.

Allen Hill was shot multiple times in his chest, said Kelly Cantrell, spokeswoman for the Washington County Sheriff's Office. He was taken by helicopter to Washington Regional Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.

After shooting, Sam Hill fled the scene, and was arrested about an hour later by Fayetteville police at his home.

He was taken to the Washington Regional Medical Center for treatment and surgery of a gunshot wound to his hip. After being released from the hospital, he was taken to the detention center.

He's to appear at the Washington County Circuit Court on Monday.

Hill was being held Saturday without bond.
