How Much Is Enough?

Every Bella Vista resident works to pay a mandatory tax of $288 every year for recreational amenities only some of us have time to enjoy. For 10,000 members, this amounts to $2.88 million every year. Every year! If we don't pay, we lose our home.

Now they want even more money from us. After we said "no" in a referendum, the Property Owners Association is now harassing us with another request, whining that they can't make ends meet with $2.88 million a year.

This has never been an issue of making ends meet. It is about a few who want to play expensive games for free while the rest of us pay. They tried to tell us that this tax will raise our property values. The truth is that after years upon years of paying $2.88 million, home values are plummeting.

Anyone who votes to increase this tax even one red cent needs his head examined. Vote no againa until the POA either quietly does its job or goes away.

Deliver On Flower Bed

Regarding your (Aug. 2) story on the potential sale of the Dickson Street post office, whether the sale goes through or not, one of the parties involved should immediately do something about its flower bed. By far, it is the worst on the street, probably on many streets.
