Man killed, responding deputy wounded in Washington County

One man is dead and a deputy sheriff was wounded responding to a domestic disturbance in southwest Washington County, Sheriff Tim Helder said in a news release.

Deputies responded to a reported shooting last night at 12397 S. Whitehouse Road, Washington County 43. A caller told police her son, Sam Hill, 26, of Fayetteville had just shot her husband in the chest.

When deputies arrived, someone started shooting at them, hitting Taylor Reed, a deputy. Deputies returned fire. It was later determined later Sam Hill had left the scene before deputies arrived and his mother, Roberta Hill, 55, had mistakenly thought her son was returning and started shooting, hitting Reed.

Deputies also discovered victim Allen Hill, 61 inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. Allen Hill was transported by Air-Evac LifeTeam to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Reed was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center by Central EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Sam Hill was later captured on Morningside Drive in Fayetteville. He had been shot in the hip. He was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center with non-lifethreatening injuries.
