Country hit-maker Chesnutt to play Saturday at Juanita's

Veteran country singer Mark Chesnutt will perform Saturday at Juanita's.

Blane Howard and Four West will open the 8:30 p.m. show.

Chesnutt, 50, a traditional country singer from Beaumont, Texas, got his start in 1990. He has released 15 albums, the latest of which, Live From Big D in 2012, was the first CD on Chesnutt's own label, Nada Dinero Records.

Between 1990 and 1998, Chesnutt reeled off eight No. 1 country hits: "Brother Jukebox," "I'll Think of Something," "It Sure Is Monday," "Almost Goodbye," "I Just Wanted You to Know," "Gonna Get a Life," "It's a Little Too Late" and "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing."

The Lucious Spiller Band will perform at Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Spiller, whose blues leanings were nourished by mentor Larry "Totsy" Davis, returned from St. Louis in recent years to become one of the foremost exponents of the blues in central Arkansas. He has released the album Born to Sing the Blues, and earlier this year, he placed second (out of 101 entrants) in Memphis' International Blues Challenge competition in the solo and duo category.

Admission is $5.

SOULution will play at 9 p.m. Saturday. Members of the Little Rock "neo-soul" band are Jordan Craighead, Kamille Shaw, Korey Fells, Braelon Leniear, Ashton Hollowell, Shawn Womack, Sam Clark and Steve Colby.

Sunday, the club will feature Andy Frasco, with Goodfoot opening the show at 7 p.m.

Frasco, a native of the San Fernando Valley in Southern California, describes his sound as "party blues." He started his music career promoting and managing bands at age 16 and did not play an instrument until age 17. He plays keyboards, accompanied by saxophonist Ernie Chang and guitarist Shawn Eckels.

Joe Buck will perform Friday at the White Water Tavern.

Buck, an upright bassist, formerly played with Th' Legendary Shack Shakers and then with Hank Williams III. He is known as a one-man band who plays "hellbilly" punk rock.

Viv Le Vox will open the show at 10 p.m.

Viv Le Vox, a punk/jazz/rock 'n' roll band from Lake Worth, Fla., is described as a blend of the sounds of The Clash, Django Reinhardt, Tom Waits and Gogol Bordello.

Admission is $7.

At 10 p.m. Saturday the club will feature Amasa Hines. Formed in 2010, the Little Rock band, which mixes soul, dub, blues, psychedelic, Afro-beat and indie rock, released the album All the World There Is in January.

Kilburn High Road, a new central Arkansas duo, will make its performing debut at the Hibernia Irish Tavern at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The duo consists of Judi Warner on fiddle, accordion and harmony vocals and Len Holton on guitar and vocals. Warner has played in Irish traditional and country bands, and Holton is host of the "From Albion and Beyond" program on radio station KUAR-FM, 89.1. Holton promises the duo will perform "jigs, reels and airs with songs and ballads from the United Kingdom's folk-rock heydays of Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention."

Kilburn High Road takes its name from a Holy Roman Empire-era road in Great Britain.

Things will sound heavy this weekend at the Rev Room, starting Friday with central Arkansas "doom metal" band Pallbearer headlining an 8:30 p.m. show that will also feature Plebeian Grandstand, Reproacher and Napalm Christ.

Sunday, Dead on Arrival Entertainment will present They Will Fall, along with More Than Sparrows, Brother Wolf and Soundcult, starting at 9 p.m.

Maxine's in Hot Springs will host a trio of bands at 9 p.m. Friday: Adam Faucett and The Tall Grass, a rock-folk outfit from central Arkansas; Belle Adair, a Texas rocker; and Amanda Avery, an Arkansas songwriter.

At 9 p.m. Saturday, the club will present the return of Cult Fiction, a Spa City improvisation group.
