Bats And Bluegrass At Watershed Sanctuary In Cave Springs

CAVE SPRINGS -- The Illinois River Watershed Partnership will host live music and an endangered bat viewing at its "Bats and Bluegrass" event from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Fayetteville bluegrass quartet Arkansauce will take the stage for an evening of family fun and learning at the Illinois River Watershed Sanctuary, 221. S. Main St. The event is free. Guests should bring lawn chairs and blankets. Light refreshments will be served, according to a news release.

A Geo-Quest Challenge starts at 5 p.m. with a prize drawing later in the evening. Live music begins at 7 p.m. on the sanctuary's Great Lawn. The bat watch starts at dusk.

The watershed sanctuary is on 30 acres at the urban headwater of the Illinois River Watershed with a cave home to a large population of Ozark cavefish and gray bats -- both endangered species.
