Rogers Police Look Into Possible Kidnapping Of 13-Year-Old Girl

ROGERS -- Police are ivestigating a possible kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl from a sidewalk near 28th Street and Chateau Drive on Tuesday afternoon, spokesman Keith Foster said.

Police received a call at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday about a girl in a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer putting her arms out an open window and yelling "Help me!" Police are treating the incident as a possible kidnapping, Foster said.

No children have been reported missing, Foster said. Police weren't sure whether a kidnapping had happened by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"We take everything as legitimate until proven otherwise," Foster said. "We'll just keep looking."

By Tuesday evening, at least 16 policemen were working the case, Foster said. Police vehicles canvassed the neighborhood and stopped vehicles similar to the description.

Police set up a command post in a church parking lot at 24th and Oak streets where officers reviewed photos of what could be the missing middle-school student, Foster said. Police are working with school administrators because a bus the child may have gotten off of is equipped with video, he said.

People with information about the incident should call the Rogers Police Department at 636-4141.
