Orman will run against Jon Cavness and Michael Williams for the position.

Bentonville is where Orman has made a life and wants to see her children grow up there, she said.

"Serving the citizens of Bentonville is a privilege," Orman wrote. "I have a desire to bring people together, find their commonality and cultivate a shared vision. I believe in listening to Bentonville residents and making sure they have input and are informed about the decisions that affect them."

Orman said her main goal is to be a part of making Bentonville one of the top 10 most desirable cities in the country.

"That means keeping the small-town charm that makes the city unique while embracing our projected population growth," she said. "It means making good financial decisions, having long-term plans and goals, a strong infrastructure and quality municipal services at affordable rates. It means maintaining a safe, family friendly community."

Orman serves with Bruce Bolten on their neighborhood Property Owners Association board.

Orman has been active in making changes for the neighborhood, and she would do the same for the city, Bolten said.

Bolten described Orman as a political activist for the city.

Orman is detailed and doesn't mind digging to get to the bottom of an issue, he said.

"She's not afraid to express her views and fight for what she thinks is right," Bolten said.

Orman is a visionary who is interested in the community, said William Spurlock. Spurlock and Orman attend Bentonville Church of Christ. Spurlock said he's known Orman since her family has moved to Bentonville.

"She has such an inquiring mind, and she's very analytical with her thought process," Spurlock said. "She's very professional."

There are 19 candidates for Bentonville's eight Council seats. Election day is Nov. 4.
