Ozark Regional Transit Tests Trolley Idea In Downtown Fayetteville On Thursday

A trolley test run will roll out in downtown Fayetteville on Thursday, according to an Ozark Regional Transit news release. Trolley rides are free.

The trolley will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. along a demonstration route in Fayetteville as part of the transit's efforts to collect ridership data. The information will be used in discussions that may bring a permanent trolley to downtown Fayetteville, Joel Gardner, executive director, said previously.

A similar trolley demonstration was held for downtown Bentonville in July.

The route begins at the Evelyn Hills Shopping Center and serves Dickson Street, Fayetteville Public Library, Fayetteville City Hall, the square and the Chancellor Hotel, according to the release. People who want a ride must be near or on a curb and flag down an oncoming trolley.

The long version of the route will stop temporarily and a shorter route will take over from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shorter route is meant to move more people more quickly between downtown businesses and restaurants, according to the release.
