Stephen Curry is one of best shooters in the NBA. But the Golden State guard who averaged 24.0 points per game least year isn't even recognized in his own Bay Area neighborhood.

Curry, 26, relayed a story to Dime magazine's Spencer Lund in which he was denied a beer at a local California Pizza Kitchen.

Curry said it happened not long after this season ended, when he and his wife went to dinner. He ordered beer, the waitress asked for his identification and he didn't have it.

"I left it in the car and I thought [the waitress would] recognize me," Curry told the magazine. "So the waitress asks, and I was like, 'Uh, is your manager here?' and I took my chances with him knowing who I was."

Curry said the manager knew, but the the waitress wouldn't budge and he never got his beer.

It's not the first time Curry has been questioned about his age, either.

In October, Curry told ESPN radio that he was carded trying to get into an R-rated movie.

"Even with my somewhat disconnected goatee, they still want to card me," he said. "So I don't know how long that lasts unit I get past that phase. I guess that's a good thing going forward."

Honest golfer

Cameron Tringale was disqualified from last week's PGA Championship for an error with his scorecard. The twist: Tringale asked for it.

Tringale, 26, said in a statement that he failed to record a stroke on the 11th hole of the final round of the tournament at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky. Tringale went to putt, and the putter passed over the ball, and he failed to record the accident as a stroke.

Tringale contacted the PGA and asked to be disqualified, and issued the statement Saturday.

"I regret any inconvenience this has caused the PGA of America and my fellow competitors in what was a wonderful championship," Tringale said in his statement.

Tringale finished 4-under 271 to tie for 33rd overall, but he will forfeit his $53,000 in prize money.

Delayed no-hitter

Logan Darnell pitched six no-hit innings last week for Class AAA Rochester to complete a no-hitter of the Durham Bulls. where was Trevor May, whop itched the first three innings of the no-hitter? Sitting in the Minnesota Twins' bullpen.

May started the no-hitter on July 24 in Durham, N.C., and pitched three no-hit innings before the game was suspended due to rain. The game was continued Aug. 11 in Rochester, N.Y., when Darnell pitched finished the combined no-hitter.

May was the first person Darnell texted after the game finished.

"After all," he told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, "he was part of this, too. It's kind of sad that he's not here."
