Man Dies In One-Vehicle Accident

FAYETTEVILLE -- State Police reported a man died after a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning.

Billy Vanbrunt was heading east on Arkansas 16 from Elkins in a 2005 Hyundai Sonata when he lost control and drove off the road, according to an Arkansas State Police news release.

The car hit a small tree and went into an embankment.

The impact caused the right front tire to go flat. Vanbrunt's Sonata continued up the embankment and overturned three-fourths of a turn. Witnesses told police they pushed the Sonata over onto its wheels.

State Polices said evidence and witness statements suggest Vanbrunt didn't use the vehicle's brakes during the accident.

Vanbrunt was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, according to the report.

The accident was being investigated by Trooper Ted Gregson. The release said the investigation is continuing.
