Economy’s drivers — Germany, France, Italy — all stall

A vendor mans his fruit and vegetable stall at an indoor market in Rome on Tuesday. Gross domestic product in the euro area was unchanged in the second quarter, the European Union’s statistics office in Luxembourg said Thursday.

The euro area's recovery unexpectedly stalled in the second quarter as its three biggest economies failed to grow, underlining the vulnerability of the region to weak inflation and the deepening crisis in Ukraine.
